Look beyond the name (which sounds like a spam email subject line), watch an episode or two, and you'll discover The Midwest Teen Sex Show is the most honest, funny, and accessible program about sexuality available. Rather than cloaking their discussion of sex and relationships in a confusing mess of cutesy words or accurate (but clinical) terminology, MTSS presents a short (5-6 minutes each) episode on a single topic through a mix of factual and genuine explanations from Nikol Hasler and hilarious sketches featuring Britney Barber and a cast of talented actors playing a wide variety of roles.

A huge part of the show's hook is its complete lack of prudishness. Episodes have dealt with topics ranging from birth control to STDs, first times, homosexuality, and how to cope with a break-up. While the subject matter is often sexual, it's never being shown to arouse the audience. The cast walks a fine line between funny and sexy but stays focused on the concept that MTSS is a not a show promoting teen sex, it's a show promoting a discussion of teen sex.

The Midwest Teen Sex Show should be required watching for anyone old enough to have questions about sex (you know who you are.) You'll get answers to things that you were too embarrassed to ask and you might even learn how to explain some of them to your mom and dad (in case they need some answers too.)

There is a huge patch of trash floating and undulating in the Pacific, and I have wanted to learn more about it. Here's a quote from the best article I have found about it:

"This is known as the Eastern Garbage Patch, part of a system of currents called the North Pacific subtropical gyre. Located halfway between San Francisco and Hawaii, the garbage patch is an area of slack winds and sluggish currents where flotsam collects from around the Pacific, much like foam piling up in the calm center of a hot tub."

Informative, and my, how well-written. This comes from an article by Kenneth R. Weiss which I found courtesy of the newly redesigned Pulitzer Prize website, where you can find some of the best journalism of the last century. These are pieces that have changed lives, set the record straight, and gone the long way to give the whole story.

The article on the trash gyre led me to a fascinating piece on fireweed, a primordial flesh-searing underwater plant that plagues Australian fishermen and thrives in our ailing seas, and I also found out the correct way to pronounce Pulitzer. I'm feeling smarter already.

One of the reasons FoundReality exists is because of the contributors unending interest in the unknown, unusual and undeniably beautiful. I myself am constantly bookmarking links, tearing things out of magazines and obsessing over random bits of information. And with all this variety it certainly was illuminating to see the strong similarity in my celebrity crushes. Inspired by a conversation with a friend I put together my top ten. I suggest taking a little time in your day to see your favorites together. It’s pretty illuminating.

For those of us spending our weekdays in the shopping and eating black hole that is the Civic Center, the MWF market at the Nation's Plaza is a nice distraction. Recently I had the pleasure of finding a vendor specializing in shadow boxes of preserved insects.

Although I was tempted by the giant dung beetle I knew in my heart that I would feel more at ease with a lovely set of exotic moths. Her prices are reasonable, about $35 for a display with six specimens and she's there every week Monday and Friday.

Founded in the UK, Mattter's goal is to connect consumers with companies through first hand experience. Because you only really know if you love something after you've tried it out good and proper.

Much like a three dimensional magazine, companies have a chance to advertise their concepts while you try their product. Giving consumers a chance to enjoy things they might not have bought otherwise. But because the mailers are audience specific, they're products you might actually want.

Already mailing out in the UK and launching at the end of 2008 in the US, sign up now to get your box of must haves.

What if the power of your wallet was harnessed to encourage businesses to green up their act? A brilliant idea is expressed in this video by carrotmob, a local san francisco group whose intent is to help encourage corporations to become greener by offering serious economic incentives to do so, coming from our own buying power.
